Presidents Monthly Message
Greetings Everyone
hope you’re all doing well and that at least some of you made it out to Kelly lake for the outing. Our April outing was on Easter weekend at Rancho Seco. I had never been there and didn’t know anything about it. After a quick Google search I found out the lake was created for emergency cooling of the near by nuclear power plant. What could go wrong, I thought. As we got closer you could see the nuclear stacks from several miles away. We drove right past the those big things to get to our campsites. The lake and park are very nice. It is well taken care of and very clean. They have bathrooms, fire pits, beaches for swimming and other amenities. It’s set up for the entire family, and there’s fishing too! We caught Bass, Bluegill and Cappie from our pontoon boats. It was a very relaxing
trip and we all made it home mid- morning on Easter Sunday. Special thanks to Jay for setting up the trip.
Trout season opened and I know we had several people out on the water. I spent a little time on the Upper Merced River. I fished around Indian Flats Camp Ground. The water was really moving in the area that I fished. I managed to find a couple spot where it was deep and didn’t look like the water was as fast. I was wrong! If the trout had a chance to see my fly, I don’t know if they could catch up to it. The people having the most fun on the river were the white water rafters.
The May outing was at Kelly Lake and May 10th. Freddy lead the day and an email went out with details. Hope to see everyone at the next meeting and hear about your fishing adventures.
